The Beautiful Simplicity of Pure Love: Discovering the Sweetness of the Lord's Grace
Hello, dear friends! Today, let us immerse our hearts in a deeply touching story that reminds us how incredibly accessible the Divine truly is. Have you ever felt that reaching God is just too difficult? We often think that the Lord is only found by great sages or scholars, but the truth is, He easily reveals Himself to those who are completely simple and innocent. Let us journey into a beautiful narrative about a pure-hearted young man named Adhaiya, and discover the magic of childlike faith.
A Simple Soul Seeking Shelter
Once in a small village lived a simple and innocent young man. His true name was almost forgotten. Everyone called him "Adhaiya" because his daily meal consisted of two and a half kilos (adhaiya) of food. He didn't do much work and ate a hefty amount so slowly his family began resenting him. It was a lot of work for the sisters in law (bhabhis) to prepare so much food everyday for their devar (younger Brother in law). They asked him to leave and manage his own life as he was a fully grown man who should be able to support his own life.
Being kicked out, this innocent person felt completely lost. Seeking a place to belong, he went to a saint's
ashram (hermitage) and humbly asked to be kept for any kind of service, saying he didn't have any special skills but was willing to do any work required. When the ashram residents heard of his massive appetite, they were quite surprised, but the wise
Guru ji kindly told him he could stay with them. He could take the amount of aata required from the stores everyday, along with potatoes etc. and go to the forest, graze the cows, and cook his own meals there.
However, the Guru ji gave him one very important instruction: before taking a single bite, he must always offer his food bhog to Thakur Ji (the Lord) and pray to Thakur ji to take his portion before adhaiya himself was allowed to eat the prasadam after it had been offered to Thakur ji.
A Divine Guest for Dinner
My friends, Adhaiya knew absolutely no prayers, mantras, or scriptures. On his very first day in the forest, he made simple village bread (bati) and a humble potato mash (bharta) over a fire made of cow dung. With absolute innocence, he called out to the Guru's Thakur Ji to come and eat "Guru ji ke Thakur ji - aakar Bhog laga lo".
Oh Miracle of Miracles! Because the Lord is completely captivated by pure emotion, Sri Ram, to whom his Guru Ji used to offer his prayers, actually appeared right before him! The Lord radiated was glowing in his splendor of a new raincloud, held His grand bow, and looked upon Adhaiya with his kind lotus eyes.
While great sages spend their entire lives trying to catch a glimpse of the Lord in deep meditation, He appeared before Adhaiya just on a single call of the innocent heart. He joyfully sat and ate the simple food of this innocent devotee. In fact, the Lord loved the food so much that He ate everything, leaving poor Adhaiya hungry that day!
The Divine Family Grows
What happens next is so incredibly sweet. When Adhaiya complained to the Guruji that Guruji's Thakur ji (the Lord) had eaten his entire meal, and He had promised to come every day if he continued to invite Him. Guruji thought this man Adhaiya might have gone hungry or had some friends and is shy to ask for more so he is saying God came. So he said no problem you can take 5 kg tomorrow for both you and the Lord, and called the storekeeper and instructed him, let Adhaiya have as much as he wants everyday, no need to ask my permission every time. So, Adhaiya brought double the flour next day to the forest.
This time, he brought five kilos but this time the Lord brought His beautiful wife, Mother Sita, who looked upon Adhaiya with immense compassion and maternal love. So once again the 5 Kg of food was over! Next day he brought Lakshman ji so even the 7.5 kg wasn't sufficient. (total 10kg)
This time he brought 2.5 kg extra so that he would get food but this time the added guest was Hanuman ji. Adhaiya was getting impatient, he asked Ram ji give me the complete family list so that I can get enough for everyone! Day by day, the guest list is growing!
Next day Adhaiya thought every day ONE person increases so let me take 5 kg extra instead of 2.5 so that I get something, but this time both Bharat and Shatrughna joined! The Lord brought first His wife Devi Sita Ji, then His younger brother Lakshman Ji, and then the mighty Hanuman Ji, who appeared in a magnificent, glowing form with his heavy mace. Eventually, the brothers Bharat and Shatrughan also joined the gathering, and Adhaiya found himself bringing larger and larger batches of flour to cook for the entire divine family. But Adhaiya never said he would take a share, he always gave up the entire food to his guests, thinking anyway morning breakfast and evening dinner I am getting at the ashram, afternoon let Guruji's Thakur ji and His family enjoy!
The store in-charges of the ashram were getting suspicious of this increased demand every day, but they were following the orders of Guruji to give Adhaiya as much as he wanted. But Adhaiya could sense their displeasure!
The Ultimate Miracle of Love
Finally, Adhaiya decided to bring a massive twenty-kilo sack of flour to the forest. But this time, he did not prepare the food at all. With the utmost childlike familiarity, he told the Lord that since His whole family and servants were present, why should he (Adhaiya) cook everyday? They should cook the meal today! Can you imagine?
The Supreme Lord smiled, and soon, Hanuman Ji was gathering wood, Lakshman Ji was lighting the fire, and Mother Sita herself, with her eyes watering from the smoke, began making the rotis (bread)!
Adhaiya excitedly ran back to the ashram to fetch his Guru, exclaiming that he had "trapped" the entire divine family and put them to work. When the Guru ji arrived in the forest, he was absolutely stunned to see the entire Shri Ram Darbar present and actively cooking and serving. Overwhelmed, the Guru ji fell completely flat like a stick on the ground (Dandavat) in reverence and offered his pranams to the Lord. The Lord lovingly explained to the Guru that while wise scholars and debaters cannot grasp Him through logic or intellect, He willingly becomes the servant of those who are humble, simple, and pure-hearted.
A Warm Closing Thought
To complete this beautiful miracle, Mother Sita fed Adhaiya with her own lotus hands like a mother feeds her child. Through Her immense grace, all his worldly impurities were instantly washed away, and his mind became completely pure, granting him the ultimate divine realization.
Dear friends, doesn't this story fill your heart with immense hope? It shows us beautifully that we do not need complicated rituals or vast, scholarly knowledge to find the Divine. All we truly need is a pure, simple heart and an innocent trust in the path given to us. May we all be inspired to cultivate that beautiful, childlike simplicity and devotion in our own spiritual journeys.
